【摘要】:Thistestmethodwasdevelopedusinggreaseshavingverylowtorquecharacteristicsatx2212;54x00B0;C(x2212;65x00B0;F).Specificationsforgreasesofthistypecommonlyrequiretestingatthistemperature.Specificationsforgreasesofothertypescanrequiretestingattemperaturesfromx2212;75tox2212;20x00B0;C(x2212;100to0x00B0;F).Thistestmethodhasprovedhelpfulintheselectionofgreasesforlow-poweredmechanisms,suchasinstrumentbearingsusedinaerospaceapplications.Thesuitabilityofthistestmethodforotherapplicationsrequiringdifferentgreases,speeds,andtemperaturesshouldbedeterminedonanindividualbasis.TestMethodD4693maybebettersuitedforapplicationsusinglargerbearingsorgreaterloads.However,greaseshavingsuchcharacteristicsthatpermittorqueevaluationsbyeitherthistestmethodorTestMethodD4693willnotgivethesamevaluesinthetwotestmethods(evenwhenconvertedtothesametorqueunits)becausetheapparatusandtestbearingsaredifferent.FIG.1TorqueTestApparatusAssemblyFIG.2Drive(TopView)1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheextenttowhichagreaseretardstherotationofaslow-speedballbearingbymeasuringstartingandrunningtorquesatlowtemperatures(below-20176;C(0176;F)).1.1.1Torquemeasurementsarelimitedbythecapacityofthetorque-measuringequipment.Note1-Wheninitiallydeveloped,theoriginaldynamometerscalelimitedthetorquecapacitytoapproximately30000gcm;theoriginaldynamometerscaleisobsolete,however.Thesuggestedreplacementscalehasnotbeenevaluated;itcouldextendthelimittoapproximately75000gcm.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Theexceptionistorquevaluesthataregivenincgs-metricunits,whichareuniversallyusedingreasespecification.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardandwarningstatements,see6.1.1,7.2,7.4,8.7,and8.11.
